Like so many across Aotearoa NZ, the people of Mt Albert wanted to gather in prayer and solidarity with our local Muslim neighbours following the shootings in Christchurch on 15 March and St Luke’s was one of the local churches involved in planning this event.
We were privileged to have Imam Khalil from Masjid e Umar in Mt Roskill offer a call to prayer, and children from Marist Primary School presented him with cards for his community. It was wonderful to have so many people come together from across Mt Albert to offer support. Thanks to Logan Tutty and Councillor Cathy Casey for the photos.
